Can you take Quercetin and Vitamin C together?

They regenerate each other's antioxidant capacity. Vitamin C restores spent quercetin to its active form, and quercetin protects Vitamin C from oxidation.

moderate

Timing

Together with food.

How it works

Ascorbic acid reduces oxidised quercetin back to its active form; quercetin reciprocally inhibits Vitamin C oxidation.

The synergistic antioxidant effect exceeds what either provides alone. Many quercetin supplements include Vitamin C for this reason. Both are water-soluble, though quercetin absorbs better with fat.

What to do

Take together. Quercetin absorbs better with a fat-containing meal. Vitamin C has no fat requirement but benefits from being taken alongside quercetin.

Frequently asked

Should I separate Quercetin and Vitamin C?

This is an informational interaction. Quercetin and Vitamin C are generally fine to take together. Vitamin C recycles oxidised quercetin

Why do Quercetin and Vitamin C interact?

How strong is the evidence for this interaction?

The evidence is moderate. Some studies support this interaction, but more research may be needed.
