Can you take Vitamin C and Iron together?
Take them together. Vitamin C can double or triple non-heme iron absorption by converting it to a more bioavailable form.

Timing
Same time, empty stomach.
How it works
Ascorbic acid reduces ferric iron (Fe³⁺) to ferrous iron (Fe²⁺), which the intestine absorbs far more efficiently.
The enhancement is most pronounced when iron status is low and at ascorbic acid doses of 50–200 mg. Higher doses add little extra benefit. The effect applies to non-heme iron from supplements and plant foods, not heme iron from meat.
What to do
Take 200 mg Vitamin C with your iron supplement, or drink a glass of orange juice. An empty stomach maximises iron uptake.
Frequently asked
Should I separate Vitamin C and Iron?
This is an informational interaction. Vitamin C and Iron are generally fine to take together. Vitamin C boosts iron absorption
Why do Vitamin C and Iron interact?
