Can you take Curcumin and Omega-3 Fish Oil together?

A well-tolerated pairing. Both are anti-inflammatory through different pathways, and the fat in fish oil helps curcumin absorption.

moderate

Timing

Together with food.

How it works

Curcumin inhibits NF-κB and COX-2 while omega-3s produce resolvins and protectins through separate enzymatic cascades.

Curcumin is poorly absorbed without fat or piperine. The fatty acids in fish oil capsules improve curcumin bioavailability. Some preliminary evidence suggests the combination has additive anti-inflammatory effects beyond either alone.

What to do

Take together with a meal. Adding black pepper extract (piperine) further increases curcumin bioavailability. Most quality curcumin supplements already include it.
