Can you take Dihydromyricetin and NAC together?
DHM speeds up alcohol-metabolising enzymes while NAC replenishes the glutathione that acetaldehyde depletes. Commonly paired in hangover prevention stacks.

Timing
Together, before or during alcohol.
How it works
DHM enhances alcohol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase activity; NAC provides cysteine for glutathione synthesis, which is depleted by the toxic intermediate acetaldehyde.
DHM (from Hovenia dulcis) accelerates alcohol clearance. NAC addresses the downstream damage by replenishing glutathione, the liver's primary detoxification molecule. Clinical evidence for the combination is limited to animal models and small human studies.
What to do
Take together before or during alcohol consumption, or the morning after. Both are also used independently for general liver support outside of alcohol contexts.
Frequently asked
Should I separate Dihydromyricetin and NAC?
This is an informational interaction. Dihydromyricetin and NAC are generally fine to take together. Complementary liver support — popular for alcohol recovery
Why do Dihydromyricetin and NAC interact?
DHM enhances alcohol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase activity; NAC provides cysteine for glutathione synthesis, which is depleted by the toxic intermediate acetaldehyde.
How strong is the evidence for this interaction?
The evidence is limited. This interaction is based on theoretical mechanisms or a small number of studies.
